Judging by the trailers, this can be very interesting. Made by Alex Garland, known for the films Ex Machina, 28 Days Later and the fantastic Annihilation.

Devs left me feeling uneasy, and I mean that as a compliment. From the very beginning, it's clear this series isn't about comfort or quick suspense. The story starts small, a mysterious death at a tech company, but gradually evolves into something much larger and more abstract. As I watched, I found myself less preoccupied with what would happen and more with what it all meant.

What sets Devs apart for me is the way technology takes on an almost religious quality. The closed-off Devs department doesn't feel like an office, but a sanctuary accessible only to a select few. This atmosphere of reverence and fear is visually powerfully portrayed, with cold spaces, glass, steel, and nature juxtaposed. It gives the series a sense of distance, yet also consistency.

The series demands a great deal of patience. The dialogue is often slow and heavy-handed, and some ideas are repeated as if the creator wants to make sure you understand them. Not everything resonated with me; at times, it felt like the story paused to make room for philosophy. At the same time, I found it courageous that Devs refuses to simplify himself.

Nick Offerman is the emotional center for me. His character, Forest, isn't a power-hungry tech tycoon, but someone who clings to an idea because it gives him something to hold on to. That makes him more human than you might initially expect. Lily, on the other hand, remains more distant. She serves primarily as our window into this world, less as someone I could fully identify with.

Afterward, Devs stuck with me, not so much for individual scenes, but for the questions it raises. How much agency do we really have? And what happens when technology pretends to have a definitive answer? Devs isn't a series I'd recommend to everyone, but for those who enjoy slow, thoughtful science fiction, it's a worthwhile experience.
