El Chapulín Colorado is a Mexican comedic superhero television series from the 1970s, created by and starring Roberto Gómez Bolaños (also known as Chespirito). The series is about a clumsy but kind-hearted superhero who wears a red suit with antennas on his head. He is called whenever people are in trouble and appears with his famous line: “¡No contaban con mi astucia!” (“You didn’t count on my cleverness!” / “You didn’t expect my cleverness!”) Although he is not a typical strong or intelligent superhero, he eventually wins through his creativity, luck, and good intentions. The series is mainly meant as a parody of superhero stories and is full of humor, wordplay, and exaggerated situations. In Latin America, it has become a true classic.
