Producers confirm early ending Empire, but hope for more

Producers Lee Daniels and Danny Strong have responded to the news of an early ending for the series.

It is official, the eighteenth episode of the sixth season has been declared as the final episode of this season, and it could very well be the last episode of the series. Although, producers Lee Daniels and Danny Strong are still hoping for an opportunity to end the series some other time properly. Daniels has said that he's bummed out that the series will not have the finale as they originally intended, at least for now. Strong has already made it well-known that he hopes they can produce their dreamed final episode at some point in the future.

The - for now - final episode will be released on the 21st of April and will contain footage of the unfinished nineteenth episode. This is supposed to ensure that viewers will receive some form of closure. This isn't the first time that Daniels and Strong had to work their way around an issue. Last year, Jussie Smollett left the show, and this also affected their plans for the story. Empire fans shouldn't despair, as there are already plans for multiple spin-offs. A series that revolves around Cookie Lyon is the most likely to succeed.
