Gangland Chronicles

I watched Gangland Chronicles with mixed feelings. The series looks sleek, with fast editing, dark visuals, and a strong voiceover, and takes you through well-known gangs like the Gambino family, MS-13, and the Hells Angels. The pace is fast, making it easy to watch.

What struck me immediately was that it's more spectacle than depth. The stories are interesting, but everything is told in short bursts. There's little room for context or nuance. It's primarily about power, violence, and betrayal. At times, it felt like I was watching an action film instead of a documentary.

Still, it's entertaining. You get a good overview of how different organized crime can be, and the interviews with former members give it a human touch. It's just a shame the series doesn't dare slow down a bit; sometimes you want to understand why people choose this life, not just how they perish in it.

A well-made, fast-paced documentary that's a great watch if you're in the mood for some gritty true crime.
