Mother, Norma, and Son, Norman, leave everything behind and try to start a new life and open a motel. Norman discovers an old diary of a girl who has been mistreated in the motel basement in a horrible way. At the same time other weird things happen. Subsequently, Norman starts to show behaviour and slowly changes into the village, that has dark secrets. Eventually, Norman derails and grows up to be the most famous serial killer, in a village in Northern California.
