Will Sharpe created Prodigies and will star in it, alongside Ayo Edebiri, known from The Bear, who is executive producing.
The duo plays Didi (Edebiri, pictured) and Ren (Sharpe), two former child stars who have been together since they were little. Now in their early 30s, they begin to wonder whether their very ordinary existences live up to the extraordinary promise of their youth. Inevitably, they ask themselves the same questions about their relationship.
The series is from Sister, producer of Black Doves, who has worked with Sharpe on series such as Giri/Haji and Flowers.
Sharpe (pictured) and Edebiri are increasingly popular. Sharpe, who starred in season two of The White Lotus, is currently working on a Sky series playing Mozart from Black Doves creator Joe Barton. Edebiri, who won an Emmy for her role as Sydney in The Bear, will next be seen in James L. Brooks’ Ella McCay for 20th Century Studios and Luca Guadagnino’s After the Hunt for Amazon MGM Studios.
Prodigies is created and written by Sharpe, who is also executive producing alongside Edebiri, Jane Featherstone, Naomi de Pear and Katie Carpenter on Sister.
