Doctor Who (2024) will continue. At least, that's the BBC's word.

Doctor Who (2024) aired its past seasons thanks to a partnership between the BBC and Disney+, but ratings declined during that period. Speculation about the science fiction series has been rife for months due to plummeting ratings and concerns that Disney+ might withdraw from its co-production agreement with the BBC.

Showrunner Russell T. Davies said in June that "we don't know what's going to happen yet" regarding the future of Doctor Who (2024). One thing is certain: Ncuti Gatwa has confirmed his retirement as the Doctor.

According to The Guardian, Kate Phillips, head of content at the BBC, said the following about the series' future:

"Whovians, rest assured: Doctor Who (2024) isn't going anywhere. Disney has been a great partner and will continue to be with the Doctor Who (2024) spin-off The War Between the Land and the Sea next year. But going forward, with or without Disney, Doctor Who (2024) will remain on the BBC... The Tardis isn't going anywhere."

Regarding viewer complaints about the show's content, Davies said, "What you call diversity, I call it stating the obvious. Someone always brings up diversity. And there are online warriors accusing us of diversity, wokeness, and incorporating messages and themes."

The premiere date for the upcoming season will be announced later.
