Gotham is een Amerikaanse misdaadserie van de zender FOX. De serie ging in première op 22 september 2014.
In deze Batman-prequel draait het vooral om de jonge jaren van detective James Gordon. Hij is nieuw bij de politie en moet meteen een grote moordzaak oplossen, namelijk die van de ouders van Bruce Wayne, die we later kennen als Batman. Gordon is één van de grootste vijanden van de criminaliteit. In Gotham zie je hoe hij van detective klimt tot commissaris van de politie en zie je welke omstandigheden personages als Catwoman, The Riddler en The Joker gecreëerd hebben.

Watched first episode. In terms of setting and story, it can be a very good and exciting series, but I thought the first episode was still a bit choppy. Because I'm a big fan of the batman genre and because I do see potential in the series, I'm going to look further!

It's a great series, highly recommended. Penguin is really genius! Victor Zsasz, Edward Nygma, other characters are interesting to follow. Especially Edward Nygma, together with Oswald Cobblepot, I find the most interesting character that I would like to follow. I'm curious if Edward Nygma becomes the Riddler through his colleagues or not until Batman is in Gotham.

Worth a look just for The penguin, or Oswald Cobblepot! Gordon's storyline is less, but Gotham as a corrupt, filthy, criminal city is wonderful to watch. I find it very entertaining, well worth checking out.

After the 4th episode I call it a day. I had high expectations, but they have not been met. It's just a cop show that just happens to be set in the batman universe. The Penguin is the only interesting character, the rest not very interesting. A missed opportunity.

The first season had it all in my opinion just not. Great cast, beautifully filmed, exciting, and it had some strong episodes here and there, but the whole was not completely convincing. The conflict between Falcone and Maroni was not very interesting and the 'villain of the week' principle was rather weakly executed. The whole thing was stretched too long, especially at the end. Personally, I think it would have been better if the first season had the original sixteen episodes instead of twenty-two. The beginning of season two was a lot stronger in the shoes. It was mostly an uplifting episode, but it had a lot more potential. James Frain is a good addition to the cast (one of the few bright spots in the Intruders series) and hopefully they can keep the upward trend this season.
