Grey's Anatomy gaat om Meredith Grey, een assistent chirurgie in het (niet-bestaande) Grey and Sloan Memorial Hospital (voorheen het Seattle Grace Hospital) in Seattle, Washington. De show heeft verscheidene hoofdpersonen, maar Meredith wordt gepresenteerd als het centrale karakter. De naam van de serie is een zinspeling op de titel van het boek Gray's Anatomy, dat lang een standaardwerk was op het gebied van de menselijke anatomie.

Who would have thought we would see the 2005 Meredith Gray 11 years later? Incredible what the writers are doing with this series. It is of course not the world's best series, but it is nice to see how Shonda & co manage to keep Grey's Anatomy very interesting. Characters that grow and that you really have to do intensely with. All this especially after a season 11, which meant the end for many. I think that Ellen Pompeo simply deserves a nomination during the Emmys. Only a nomination, because Vera Farmiga has to win it: p.
