Grown-ish is de spin-off van de komedie Black-ish. De komedie Grown-ish volgt de oudste dochter van de Johnsons Zoey als zij naar de universiteit gaat en er achter komt dat niet alles gaat zoals zij het wil nu ze het ouderlijk nest heeft verlaten.

What a disappointment for a series where I didn't really have high expectations. It's hard to live in the shadow of Black-ish, of course. The only thing this series shares with Black-ish is that it takes place in the same universe. The humor is completely different (read: hard to find). Actually, this is more just a slice of life from Zoey. Nice for the average teenager who is in the same phase of life, but otherwise not interesting (am I old?). Maybe I drop out too early after two episodes, but I don't think it's worth the chance (anymore).
