Trailer for Apple TV+ series Hijack starring Idris Elba as action hero

Apple TV+ today unveiled the trailer for Hijack, the upcoming thriller movie starring and executive producing Idris Elba.
The seven-part series was created by George Kay (Lupin) and Jim Field Smith (Truth Seekers), who respectively wrote and directed the series. Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife, Snowpiercer, Blindspot) also stars.

Hijack is a thriller that follows the journey of a hijacked plane to London on a seven-hour flight, as authorities search the ground for answers. Elba (Luther, The Wire) stars as Sam Nelson, a veteran business negotiator who must use all his cunning to save the lives of the passengers - but his high-risk strategy may prove to be his downfall.

Panjabi will play the role of Zahra Gahfoor, an anti-terrorism agent who is on the ground when the plane is hijacked and becomes part of the investigation. The series also stars Christine Adams (Black Lightning), Max Beesley (Jamestown), Eve Myles (Keeping Faith), Neil Maskell (Peaky Blinders), Harry Michell (Diavoli/Devils), Aimee Kelly (This England), Ben Miles ( The Capture), Mohamed Elsandel and Jasper Britton.

Hijack will begin on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 with the first two episodes, followed by a new episode every Wednesday through August 2.

The series is produced by 60Forty Films, the production company created by Emmy Award-winning Executive Producers Jamie Laurenson and Hakan Kousetta (Slow Horses, The Essex Serpent) as part of their exclusive content deal with Apple TV+, alongside Kay and FIeld Smith's own production company, Idiotlamp Productions, and is also the first series to debut from Elba's first-look deal with Apple TV+ and his Green Door Pictures.

In addition to writing and directing, Kay and Field Smith each serve as executive producers alongside Elba, Laurenson, Kousetta, and Kris Thykier.

Idris Elba is actually always good. Only 7 episodes to tell a story that can also be told in the movie? I'm afraid it will be too drawn out with a lot of side paths. The premise is not really very original either. So I hope it won't disappoint. But it's Apple, and most of Apple is worth seeing. So check it out later.
