©The Hollywood Reporter - Apple TVHijack is created by George Kay (Lupin) and Jim Field Smith, who previously collaborated on the anthology series Criminal (Criminal: France, Criminal: Deutschland, Criminal: España, and Criminal: United Kingdom). Smith also serves as the lead director this season.
The series became an unexpectedly huge success in 2023 and, alongside Ted Lasso, became only the second Apple TV series to make the Nielsen Top 10 list of most streamed series. This was remarkable given the streaming service's relatively limited number of subscribers.
In addition to Elba, who received an Emmy nomination for the first season, Christine Adams, Max Beesley, and Archie Panjabi also return. The second season introduces a host of new cast members, including Toby Jones, Clare-Hope Ashitey, Lisa Vicari, Karima McAdams, Christian Näthe, and Christiane Paul.
By moving from a plane to a subway, Hijack remains true to its core: a real-time thriller in which one man tries to prevent a large-scale disaster while tension builds minute by minute.
The new season consists of eight episodes and premieres worldwide on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. A new episode will be released weekly, with the finale on March 4, 2026.
