This series looked very promising. A number of well-known historical mysteries that would be brought up with new material and new facts in a series narrated by Laurence Fishburne. But unfortunately the series is very disappointing. That said, the series may be of interest to people who are new to these stories. Because it is well told what it is about and that information is correct and interesting if you like history. But if you already know the stories and know a bit more about them, you can skip this series. And I'll tell you why. Let me start by saying that I have a great interest in history and therefore already have quite a bit of knowledge of the issues covered in this series. That is precisely why I was very curious about the new insights and especially new facts. But guess what? There appear to be none or hardly any! What is shown are documentaries by subject about people who think they have invented something revolutionary that would turn the whole of history upside down. If it were true. And let them not be able to prove that under any circumstances .... What remains are a number of episodes of 1.5 hours that are cut up into pieces of 10 minutes and in which Fishburne is mainly repeating a lot because after each commercial break needs to be explained what the episode was about. In the entire series, no new perspective is given on the pieces of history that really appeal to the imagination. DNA research that appears to prove nothing in the last minutes. A boat that cannot be found because the multi-million dollar equipment does not appear to work in the conditions in which it has to do its job. Rosswell where they find things that turn out to be very normal with all kinds of "new" methods. To find out that there is actually no news about the Rosswell UFO incident, they need a whopping 4.5 hours (three episodes)! And here extensive use is even made of footage from previous documentaries about this story. Anyway, the fails go on and on and all of this is interspersed with the at one point seriously monotonically speaking Fishburne who probably at one point also wondered what he should read. It may be clear that I am quite disappointed.

Unfortunately, I was tempted to watch the first episode of the second season anyway. This is about the famous Flight 19 that disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle in December 1945. It is striking that the plane, which was sent after them to look for them, was never heard from again. An interesting modern mystery. Would there finally be some news about this? The answer is yes and no. Yes, there are some new indications, but then little or nothing is done with them. And no, there are no real new insights about the cause of the missing persons or their final resting place. And for that they need 1.5 hours with endless repetitions of text and images. Again, for people who don't know about this case, it could be an interesting episode. For people who, like me, have already heard, seen or read something about this: it is better to spend this 1.5 hours.
