Hostage

I had high expectations for Hostage, especially since it immediately made it into Netflix's top 10. The premise sounded promising: a British prime minister (Suranne Jones) whose husband is taken hostage and who finds herself under enormous political pressure.

The acting feels weak and often overdone, meaning the tension never truly becomes believable. The characters remain superficial and lack depth, while the dialogue sometimes reads more like a soap opera. Furthermore, the story relies heavily on coincidences and predictable twists. Instead of a clever political thriller, you get a series of clichés that you, as a viewer, simply can't take seriously.

In my opinion, it's a missed opportunity. The concept had so much more potential.

I had high hopes for this series, but it was a real disappointment. It was supposed to be a British series, but it was actually another overblown American adaptation. Everyone has their own taste, but it wasn't mine.
