I, Jack Wright starts off promisingly, but honestly, I quickly felt a bit misled by the series. The concept—a mysterious death, a wealthy family that inherits nothing, and a web of lies that is slowly exposed—sounds fantastic. But the execution remains just a bit too superficial.

What bothered me most was that the series tried to tell so many storylines simultaneously that none of them really clicked. The family members were interesting enough, but their conflicts sometimes felt more like a soap opera than a serious drama. That can be fun, but here it sometimes worked against the tension. I found myself remaining curious, but not truly engaged.

I initially thought the stylistic trick with the future interviews was clever; it creates a sense of foreboding, but ultimately it slows the pace. You sense that all sorts of things are going on, but the series lingers too long on hints and half-reveals. As a result, the mystery becomes more frustrating than engaging.

The cast does a good job, by the way. Nikki Amuka-Bird and John Simm elevate many scenes. But even they can't prevent some of the dialogue from feeling a bit melodramatic.

And then the ending… it just leaves too much open. Not in a thrilling, "I need season two" way, but more like there are missing pieces. For a series so focused on intrigue, that feels unsatisfying.

Nothing wrong with watching, but the police investigation is going in all directions.
Also, within a few weeks I watched a series (Saint-Pierre) with such a worthless open ending that you have to take a deep breath not to swear!
