As a fellow countryman and peer of JCVD I can of course hardly deny not having seen his entire oeuvre at the time; There was really just no escape. That our Jean-Claude had to rely more on his "looks" and "moves" than his outspoken acting talent is certainly no secret and despite his very limited ability to empathize with characters other than the standard type he usually played, the man has quite a nice career. The fact that he could not pronounce a sentence containing more than ten words did not even hinder his path to eternal fame. Time for a come-back. Unfortunately with come-backs it's usually a bit the same as with remakes; It is usually better to leave it and enjoy the old age without bothering anyone else with it. Unless, of course, you have the chance to play a role that suits you. JCVD will undoubtedly have thought this too when he got the chance to play himself in "Jean-Claude Van Johnson". Unfortunately, I suspect JC that he helped "Dave Callaham", who already had not very big things to his credit as a writer of scripts for vehicles like "Doom", "Godzilla" and all parts of "The Expendables". coming up with the "jokes" and "one-liners" for this action comedy. They are at the level of JC's acting talent in his best days. Still, I completely agreed with Jean-Claude when he concluded this pilot with the immortal phrase: "I should never have come back" Hopefully Amazon will also realize this in time. My opinion: If you are not really a fan of JC you can best leave this for what it is.
