Timothy Olyphant reprises his role as Raylan Givens in Justified: City Primeval

Raylan Givens can pull out his holster and hat after nearly a decade. The popular series Justified gets a sequel in the form of a miniseries called Justified: City Primeval.
A long-cherished wish of many series enthusiasts has been fulfilled. The beloved character Raylan Givens is back in action and fighting crime in a sequel to Justified. The first image of Timothy Olyphant's return as the trigger-happy gunfighter has been shared with the world.

Justified: City Primeval is set about ten years after the events of Justified. Raylan Givens this time enters Detroit where he comes into contact with criminal Clement Mansell (Boyd Holbrook), aka The Oklahoma Wildman. Clement is a violent sociopath who has already slipped through the fingers of Detroit's top law enforcement officers once and is eager to do so again.

The series will be based on an acclaimed book by Elmore Leonard called City Primeval: High noon in Detroit. Showrunners Dave Andron and Michael Dinner said that even famed director Quentin Tarantino tried to make the book into a movie, but failed. Tarantino and the showrunners discussed the idea of maybe releasing it as a season of Justified and that made Andron and Dinner's mouth water.

The showrunners also said that in the series they will discuss how the public perception of law enforcement has changed since the original series. While Raylan Givens still has his rigid moral code, his eyes are more open to what's going on around him. Raylan Givens not only deals with his own demons in a more candid way, but also has to deal with one of Elmore Leonard's best villains.

Looks like Raylan Givens will have his hands full and fans will be curious to see how he handles these matters in his own unique way. There is currently no premiere date set, but the series is expected to premiere on FX in the middle of this year.
