Luther is een Britse detectiveserie van de zender BBC One. De serie ging in première op 4 mei 2010.
Voor inspecteur John Luther is het oplossen van misdrijven geen werk. Het is een roeping. Luther is een briljant speurder, die er zo zijn eigen wetten en regels op na houdt en zijn collega's regelmatig versteld doet staan met zijn scherpe inzicht. Met volle overgave gaat hij het psychologische duel aan met psychopaten, moordenaars... en de demonen die in hemzelf huizen. Want Luther heeft een gekwelde geest. I haven't been crying in a corner just yet after I saw the very last episode. One of the best detective series I know/have seen. Idris Elba is truly enchanting!

Watched the first episode and I'm surprised!! So strong together. Reminds me of 'Jack Taylor'. I keep watching and there are 3 seasons. SUPER!!

I have a recommendation for fans of the series. The creator and writer of the series, Neil Cross, has written a book that serves as a prequel to the series: Luther: The Calling (or Luther: De Roeping in Dutch). Luther's very first episode kicks off mid-action at the end of a police case. The book is about the beginning of the case. Even if you already know how it ends, it's still exciting.

In The Wire he was already one of the reasons to continue staring apathetically at your screen and in Luther Idris Elba does it all over again. The only point of criticism you can have about Luther is that there are far too few episodes, but then you can always keep watching the trailer on repeat, because that is the most impressive ever. ?

Good news and bad news today for Luther. The bad news is that Fox wants an American remake of Luther (why? Why redo a refreshingly new and above all high-quality crime drama?). The good news is that the BBC will air two brand new specials from Luther in 2015.

What a fantastic series! Enjoyed the storyline and the actors. You're really in it from the first episode. For me, this series is very high on my list. Highly recommended! Too bad there are no more seasons.
