The series excels in atmosphere. The dark images, oppressive music and good acting performances ensure that you are constantly on the edge of your seat. Especially the leading actress, Victoire Du Bois, plays convincingly and makes you really empathize with Emma's fear and struggles. What makes Marianne so strong is that it is not only a horror series, but also a well-constructed mystery. The story is exciting and unpredictable, with enough surprises to keep you captivated until the end.

Pretty scary French horror series. A writer, made famous by her books about a witch and the fight against it, returns to her native village where she left 15 years ago for unclear reasons. Strange things appear to be happening there and it seems that the stories she writes are becoming reality. It's up to her, and her group of friends, to try to stop the evil. Telling much more quickly becomes spoilers. But believe me, there are plenty of scares and gore in this series. The atmosphere is at times very oppressive and it remains unclear for a long time what exactly is going on, what happened in the past and why she left her village. Everything slowly becomes clear and builds to a great climax. If you like horror, this is definitely recommended. It's a Netflix production, so it can probably be streamed there.
