Dutch hospital series Medisch Centrum West returns to television

Dutch hospital series Medisch Centrum West returns to television

The hospital series Medisch Centrum West (Medical Center West) returns to television. A Talpa spokesperson confirmed this after reports in various media.
The new series follows the same hospital thirty years later, but now with a new generation of doctors and nurses, according to reports.

Medisch Centrum West was last seen in the last century, between 1988 and 1994 to be precise. The leading roles were played by Marc Klein Essink, Rob van Hulst and Annemieke Verdoorn, among others.

"The series again revolves around real-life topics, dilemmas and mutual relationships in and around the hospital," said the spokeswoman. It is not yet known who is in Medisch Centrum West 2.0., where it will be shown and when the season starts. "As soon as more information about this series can be shared, we will do so from SBS6."

Medisch Centrum West was on display from 1988 to 1994. The series, which was still broadcast on TROS, was a big hit at the time. Between 3 and 4.5 million people watched the program every week.

After the hundredth episode, it was decided to stop the series. The makers wanted to produce a new series that could compete with Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden. That eventually became On the Way to Tomorrow. In 1992 the series won the Golden Televizier Ring (Dutch television awards).

Last week news also came out about another series from the past that is returning, namely Gooische Vrouwen with Linda de Mol and her friends. Talpa and Videoland are working together on the return of the program.

Too bad they are so nostalgic these days, or, can't think of anything new anymore. I followed the original series completely back in the day, we'll give them the standard 1st 3 episodes a chance.
