©Deadline - NetflixGein's obsession with his mother, combined with mental disorders and isolation, led to crimes that directly inspired iconic horror films such as Psycho, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and The Silence of the Lambs.
Gein, also known as the Butcher of Plainfield or the Plainfield Ghoul, confessed in the 1950s to the murder of two women. Additionally, he made trophies from bodies he exhumed from graves. Although he was suspected of more murders, including that of his brother Henry, he was never officially linked to those cases.
The cast for Monster: The Ed Gein Story has been expanded: Laurie Metcalf appears as Augusta, Gein's domineering mother, Tom Hollander plays Alfred Hitchcock, with Olivia Williams as his wife Alma Reville. Addison Rae takes on the role of Evelyn Hartley, and Charlie Hall appears as Deputy Frank Worden. Suzanna Son plays an as-yet-unknown role.
Further roles include Lesley Manville, Joey Pollari, Tyler Jacob Moore, Mimi Kennedy, Will Brill, and Robin Weigert.
The limited series, from Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, premieres on Friday, October 3. Check out more photos and the trailer below.
