Moresnet is a Belgium drama series which aired on Streamz. The series premiered in 2024.
After the death of his father, Ben Schotz, a man scarred by his past, returns to his native village of Moresnet. Together with his childhood friends, including journalist Zoë Kuypers, he decides to dig up a time capsule that they buried 22 years earlier. In that chest they find the diary of Ben's disturbed brother Daan. On the last page of that diary, Ben discovers a list of names... with the dates of death of his friends. Each of them will die within ten days. How did this list end up in this 22 year old diary? And why their names?
For three episodes you’re pretty much in the dark, but then the answer starts to unfold. What I like about the final solution is that it assumes a familiar interpretation of quantum theory about the multiverse, namely that every decision translates into a new timeline. Anyway, you’ll have to watch the series to see what I mean.
I wasn't very impressed with the leading man of this series (Boris Van Severen), but most of the other actors do a fine job. With a special mention for Raymond Thiry who convincingly portrays a sinister figure here again.
After watching Styx recently I have to come to the conclusion that our southern neighbors are much better at making this kind of genre series than us 'olanders. I like them!
