Young Ducky Mallard cast for NCIS: Origins

Young Ducky Mallard cast for NCIS: Origins

NCIS: Origins from CBS will introduce another character from the original series in the upcoming second season.
Adam Campbell will reprise his guest role from NCIS as the younger version of Dr. Donald 'Ducky' Mallard in an episode of NCIS: Origins, set in the 1990s. The episode will also pay tribute to the late David McCallum, who played Ducky for twenty seasons in NCIS.

“We wanted to create this episode to honor the memory of our dear friend David McCallum. He was a beloved member of the NCIS family for many years, and we are incredibly fortunate to have the talented Adam Campbell back to bring the younger version of this iconic character to life once again,” said co-showrunners Gina Lucita Monreal and David J. North in a statement. "We even managed to incorporate music by David in the episode. We are all very excited and can't wait for the fans to see it."

Campbell played the younger Ducky in flashbacks in four episodes of NCIS, most recently in 2020. In the NCIS: Origins episode, titled The Edge, Ducky arrives at Camp Pendleton to follow the team as they work on a case. He reconnects with Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Austin Stowell), after the two had previously crossed paths years earlier.

The episode will air this fall, but an exact date has not yet been announced.

The second season of NCIS: Origins will premiere on Tuesday, October 14, on CBS. Monreal and North serve as executive producers, along with Mark Harmon—who played Gibbs for 19 seasons in NCIS—and Sean Harmon.
