NCIS
NCIS is een Amerikaanse misdaadserie van de zender CBS. De serie ging in première op 23 september 2003.
NCIS gaat over een groep speciale agenten in dienst van NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) hun doel is onderzoek te doen naar alle misdaden die gelinkt zijn aan de marine. Dit kan lopen van moord op een marinier tot spionage op militair domein, van drugs deals tot verkrachting. Ze doen het op hun eigen onorthodoxe manier, maar krijgen dit toch gedaan.
In tegenstelling tot de bekende serie CSI: Crime Scene Investigation focust deze serie zich niet op de zaken, of de forensische bewijzen, die er natuurlijk wel inkomen, maar hoofdzakelijk op de mensen. De serie heeft een bijzondere stijl van humor en cinematografie (met onder andere zwart-witbeelden). De zaken, verdachten en slachtoffers zijn niet steeds even goed uitgewerkt deels omdat deze zaken, niet het belangrijkste zijn in deze op mensen georiënteerde serie.
Het team bestaat uit verscheidene karakters: Eerst en vooral hebben we speciaal agenten Jethro Gibbs, Caitlin Todd, Ziva David, Anthony DiNozzo en Timothy McGee. Ze worden bijgestaan door het forensische team met name Dr Donald Mallard in Autopsie (geassisteerd door Jimmy Palmer) en Abby Sciuto in het lab. Ze worden in toom gehouden door de directeurs Tom Morrow (seizoen 1 en 2) Jenny Shepard (seizoen 3, 4 en 5 ) en Leon Vance (seizoen 6 en verder).

Just read that Dinozzo is also leaving the series. It is still possible that Ziva has left the series, but if Dinozzo also leaves, it seems to me that it will be difficult to make a nice storyline. They would then have to put someone in return with the same problems and humor as Dinozzo.

Season 14 and Anthony DiNozzo have left, which is a shame but the series could also use new blood and I must say that the first 3 episodes with the 2 replacements Jennifer Esposito (Alex Quinn) and Wilmer Valderrama (Nick Torres) I really liked it so far, it's 2 new characters that bring new storylines and that's only good for the series.

It's actually strange that I still like a series after 20 seasons and a huge amount of cast changes. After all, most series don't survive that. And this series has already replaced so many main characters that I really wonder what it is about NCIS that makes me want to keep watching it. After each departure I had strong doubts whether it would continue to be as good, but even after Gibbs' departure the series continues strong. I think it's because they never put too much emphasis on departures and only one leaves at a time. And especially because they manage to write nice replacement roles every time. And despite the fact that it has been around for so long, the stories remain good. With a good mix of case of the week, humor and personal complications. Yes, if they continue like this, this series can continue for a while as far as I'm concerned.

I have been following the series since the first one (20 years ago?) and it remains great fun to watch. It contains everything, tension, romance, action and the chemistry between the actors is very good. Hope the series continues for a while!
