USA Network cancels The Purge and Treadstone

USA Network has cancelled the horror series The Purge and Treadstone. Both series were based on a movie franchise. The Purge has been cancelled after its second season and Treadstone after its first. Both series were expensive and didn't have enough viewers. Next to that, the network is undergoing various changes, which means that there will be a bigger focus on live television and unscripted programs.

The Purge is based on the movie franchise with the same name. In the series, everyone is allowed to commit crimes without being punished, for twelve hours. This includes murder. Treadstone is based on the Bourne franchise. The series takes place in a post-Jason Bourne universe, where a program turns recruits into superhuman hitmen. Sleeper agents all over the world are mysteriously 'awakened' to continue their deadly missions.
