House of Cards (2013) actress cast in Fox drama series Doc

Doc, the adaptation of Fox's popular Italian series Doc - Nelle tue mani, has found a leading actress. Molly Parker, known from House of Cards (2013), will be the leading actress in the new medical drama series Doc. Parker's role in Doc follows her recent guest role in an episode of Fox/Sony TV's first anthology series Accused (US).



Doc centers on hard-working, brilliant doctor Amy Elias (Parker, pictured), chief of internal and family medicine at Westside Hospital in Minneapolis. After a brain injury erases the last eight years of her life, Amy must navigate an unfamiliar world where she can no longer remember the patients she treated, the colleagues she crossed, the soulmate she divorced, the husband of who keeps them now and the tragedy that caused her to push everyone away.

She can only rely on her estranged seventeen-year-old daughter, whom she remembers as a nine-year-old, and a handful of devoted friends as she struggles to continue practicing medicine despite the loss of nearly a decade of knowledge and experience.

The series comes from writer, executive producer and showrunner Barbie Kligman, executive producers Hank Steinberg and Erwin Stoff of 3 Arts, Sony Pictures Television and Fox Entertainment Studios.

Originally scheduled for this season, Doc will debut in the 2024-25 season. As emerged last month, most of the new scripted series planned for the 2023-24 season will start next season due to the impact of the double Hollywood strike on production.

Doc – Nelle tue mani, created and produced by Fremantle company Lux Vide, centers on a male doctor with amnesia, played by Luca Argentero, and also stars Simona Tabasco and Beatrice Grannò, known for their roles as Lucia respectively and Mia in season two of HBO's The White Lotus. After its strong debut in Italy on Rai 1 in 2020, Doc - Nelle tue mani has been sold to more than 100 countries.

Parker received an Emmy nomination for her role as House Whip Jackie Sharp in House of Cards (2013). She recently starred in the Netflix series Lost in Space (2018) playing Mrs. Darling in David Lowery's Disney film Peter Pan & Wendy. Parker can soon be seen opposite Halle Berry in the upcoming Netflix film The Mothership and in the indie You Gotta Believe opposite Greg Kinnear.
