Josh Hartnett to Star in Newfoundland Limited Series for Netflix

Josh Hartnett to Star in Newfoundland Limited Series for Netflix

Josh Hartnett has been tapped by creator Jesse McKeown to star in an as-yet-untitled Newfoundland miniseries.
Actor Josh Hartnett is producing and starring in a new six-part thriller series set in remote Newfoundland, Canada, where filming will also take place. The as-yet-untitled series will be executive produced by Jessica Rhoades (Black Mirror), who will serve alongside Hartnett. The two previously worked together successfully on the Black Mirror episode Beyond the Sea.

The series combines psychological suspense with supernatural horror. When a mysterious sea monster emerges and begins terrorizing a fishing village on the coast of Newfoundland, it ignites an explosive collision between man and nature, tradition and modern menace.

Hartnett plays a bitter fisherman struggling to come to terms with his past, protect his family, and maintain his increasingly fragile lifestyle. His battle against the monster also becomes a battle for his identity, his community, and his future.

The actor, who previously had a series regular role on Showtime’s horror drama Penny Dreadful, continues to expand his acting career with critically acclaimed roles. Following his appearance in the feature film Oppenheimer, where he was part of the SAG Award-winning ensemble, and a memorable guest role on the award-winning series The Bear, he now returns to the small screen in a more ambitious, substantive lead role.
