TheBear. A series that I had heard a lot of positive things about, but which I thought was not for me. After having nothing to do on a boring Friday, I decided to give The Bear a try. And man, was I wrong! What a fantastic show this is! Carmen, a young talented chef with experience in star restaurants, returns to Chicago after the death of his brother to run a sandwich shop left behind by his brother. This won't happen without a fight. His colleagues are not at all eager for Carmen to change things. Especially his cousin, who has been working in the business for a long time, makes things very difficult for Carmen. The family dynamics, the conflicts between colleagues and the enormous financial debt left behind by his brother give Carmen a lot of headaches. The stress that Carmen experiences is depicted extremely well. So good that it stressed me out and my smartwatch almost thought I was exercising because of my high heart rate ;) Do you like drama series full of tension and emotion? Then The Bear is really worth it! The Bear can be seen on FX and Hulu. Season 1 contains 8 half-hour episodes. Season 2 will be released early summer and will contain 10 episodes.
The Bear is a fantastic realistic drama and I enjoyed the dynamics and interplay between the actors, the conflicts, the constant tension, the emotional explosions and the chaos where the pace of the series is much like a rollercoaster. I've chosen The Bear as the winner of the series of the year award for best comedy/dramedy series and I'm definitely looking forward to season 2.
After season 1 in 2022 (in my opinion the best that 2022 had to offer), now also season 2.... and this will simply be the best that you will see in 2023. What a series, absolutely great. The Christmas episode, the episode in Copenhagen and the episode with Richie in the other restaurant are true masterpieces in season 2.
