The series follows their fairytale-like, almost royal romance and marriage, but also the tensions within their relationship under the relentless scrutiny of the gossip press. The story concludes with the fatal plane crash off the coast of Massachusetts that claimed the lives of JFK Jr., Carolyn, and her sister Lauren.
Zimmer is presumed to portray Ann Messina Freeman, Carolyn's mother, who lost two of her three daughters in the crash.
The cast also includes Naomi Watts as Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Grace Gummer as Caroline Kennedy, Alessandro Nivola as fashion designer Calvin Klein, and Omari K. Chancellor as designer Gordon Henderson.
Zimmer, known for her role as Janine Skorsky in the Netflix hit House of Cards (2013), remains busy. She will soon appear in season four of Netflix's The Lincoln Lawyer, and in recent years she has had roles in ABC's Big Sky, Peacock's The Calling, Prime Video's Harlan Coben's Shelter, and Freeform's Good Trouble, for which she also directed multiple episodes.
