The nominees below were chosen based on what the readers of MySeries told us in 2024, supplemented with the opinions of my fellow reviewers and of course my own opinion. Let's take a quick look at which actors have a chance to win the title 'Best Actor 2024'!
Colin Farrell

Colin Farrell will not be unknown to most of us, although we may know him mainly from the big screen. And yet he has often made the transition to TV series, such as the second season of True Detective, The North Water and Sugar. However, he receives his nomination this year based on his portrayal of Oswald Cobblepot in The Penguin. Completely unrecognizable, he manages to portray an impressive Penguin who is ruthless, but at certain moments still arouses the viewer's sympathy. Without a doubt, he is one of the main reasons The Penguin has been so well received.

Hiroyuki Sanada

This Japanese actor already had quite a few credits behind his name, but Shõgun added one this year with an exclamation mark behind it. Sanada stars in this remake of James Clavell's Shõgun as Mr. Joshii Toranaga, a Japanese daimyo who knows how to teach us as viewers a thing or two about Japanese culture. The way in which he brings the daimyo to life is impressive and makes this nomination a no-brainer.

Jeff Goldblum

I'm still bummed that Kaos hasn't been renewed for a second season and the main reason for that is that I would have liked to see Jeff Goldblum continue in his role as supreme god Zeus. Think of how glamorous life as supreme god could be, multiply that by ten and you have an idea of how wonderfully over the top Goldblum portrays Zeus. The way he can go from the spoiled god at his beck and call to the terror of everything and everyone around him in a matter of seconds is beautifully done.

Jeremy Allen White

Also last year, Jeremy Allen White was nominated as best actor for his role in The Bear. The series has continued to reach an extremely high level for three seasons and one of the reasons for this is White's performance. The culinary brilliant, but very chaotic chef who has to deal with some personal demons, remains a pleasure to watch.

Toby Jones

Mr Bates vs The Post Office takes us into one of the biggest miscarriages of justice in British history, with Toby Jones taking on the role of Alan Bates. As the pivotal point in the dispute between the state and a group of citizens, we see the consequences that Bates suffers from the mistakes in the system used by the state, but at the same time we see the doggedness and strength with which he takes on a seemingly unbeatable opponent.

Walton Goggins

The storyline of Cooper Howard/The Ghoul runs like a common thread through Fallout and he is without a doubt one of the most striking and special characters in this series. Goggins portrays a very convincing Ghoul who is concerned with little else than surviving in a world that has little left to offer.

A wonderful list of actors who have starred in some of the best series of this year. I'm curious what you think of the list!
These were all six nominees nominated by you, the readers, by the writers and myself. Good luck voting.
But in the meantime I've also seen The Penguin. And although I didn't really like the series itself, not really my taste, I did think Colin Farell was terribly good. I'll let this simmer for a while...
