Lights off, spotlight on! Time to see in which series this actor portrayed a character. For the bigger audience, Tom Hopper may be a bit of an unknown name. Nonetheless, this British actor has already featured in quite some big shows. A big man who mainly portrays characters where physical prowess is quite a big deal, but their ability to think shouldn't be underestimated either.

Hopper has his first role in Casualty, a British medical drama series that has been going on since 1986. His guest role in Doctor Who was a bit more memorable. After that, his real breakthrough came in Merlin. As Sir Percival, a knight of the round table, he managed to show his acting skills. His size and impressive physique characterise sir Percival. He towers above anyone else. Fitting for many other roles of Tom Hopper is that sir Percival was also very noble. A gentle giant who's willing to help out anyone to defend Camelot.

In 2014 Starz managed to sign Tom Hopper for the iconic role of Billy Bones, a character from the famous Treasure Island from Robert Louis Stevenson. The show based on the books would be called Black Sails. A series that gained a lot more international recognition by being distributed by Netflix. The quality of the show increased per season. Hopper was perfect for the role of a hardened pirate with his heart in the right place. In the end, he was one of the most important characters, even if it didn't appear to be so in the beginning.

After the success of Black Sails, the Brit continues in Hollywood by joining the cast of Game of Thrones. Here he featured as Dickon Tarly. A role he took over from Freddie Stroma. His role is only a short one as his character perishes horribly. I'm looking at you Daenarys Targaryen...

Hopper didn't sit still for long as it is soon announced that he joined the cast of The Umbrella Academy. A new series based on a comic book. Only this time, the comic book wasn't known that well. The series was a big success and Hopper's Luther Hargreaves was definitely a part of that. Another role that fits the 'friendly giant' name. A second season will release in 2020, although a specific date has not yet been announced.
