Corona crisis; which series to watch? Top 5 best series with dinosaurs

Many great, fun and interesting top-five lists have been released to fill the time we would usually fill with going out and visiting relatives. This great list features all kinds of series involving dinosaurs. Enjoy watching!
Who didn't have a dinosaur phase as a kid? The idea that once giant reptiles roamed the Earth is fascinating to think about. There are even some adults who are interested in that idea. This fantasy is further strengthened by movies such as Jurassic Park. After I recently saw that movie, I decided to create a top-five list around the idea of dinosaurs. Unfortunately, the list of series containing dinosaurs was a lot less long than lists of series with other topics. Probably has to do something with the budget. But after digging around, I've managed to find these five.

5. Prehistoric Park

In this 'kind of' documentary, nature presenter Nigel Marven portrays a fictional version of himself as he enters through a time portal into the past. Here he meets various dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals. As he talks about what life looked like millions of years ago, he captures the animals for his zoo. Prehistoric Park has both the tension of an adventure series and the educative side of a documentary.

4. The Flintstones

Who didn't grow up with Fred Flinstone and his friends? The cartoon series from the sixties showed an idyllic version of the prehistoric age, where humans and dinosaurs lived together, and everyone had a job, a household and various hobbies. It doesn't appear to be that different from our time. The only real difference is that, including the houses and paperwork, everything is made of stone.

3. Terra Nova

In the near future, Earth has become polluted enough for it to become uninhabitable for humans. Luckily, time travel technology has been developed, and thus, humans travel back 85 million years ago. In between the dinosaurs, they create a colony, but this doesn't immediately end all of humanity's problems. Steven Spielberg serves as producer, so it should be great. The only shame is that, unfortunately, only one season was created.

2. Primeval

When holes in the spacetime continuum exist, prehistoric animals travel to the present to cause death and mayhem. It's up to palaeontologist Nick Cutter (Douglas Henshall) and his team to capture these animals and take them back to their own time. Although the dinosaurs are obviously the highlight, the time travel technology allows the creators to throw in a lot of other fun things. Can't get enough of this? You can always try the Canadian spin-off; Primeval: New World.

1. Walking with Dinosaurs

It may already be more than twenty years old, but the documentary series Walking with Dinosaurs still looks gorgeous. With animatronic dolls and computer-generated imagery, prehistoric life is brought to life in an amazing way. For six episodes, this series takes you through the beginning, the peak and the end of the age of dinosaurs. The creators of this show have created various other documentary series that revolve around other species that lived before, during and after the dinosaurs. Examples are Walking with Beasts and Walking with Monsters.

You don't see many dinosaurs on television, apart from documentaries, cartoons and programs for children. Dinosaurs from the early nineties is one of the few examples of other live-action series that featured dinosaurs. Nonetheless, there are plenty of time travel series that feature the giant reptiles. Doctor Who has them in a couple of episodes; Invasion of the Dinosaurs, Deep Breath and Dinosaurs on a Spaceship. Would you rather stick to animals that aren't extinct? Don't worry. There will be more top-five lists coming out soon.
