Netflix invests millions into originals, subscription fee increases in Belgium

Netflix will invest more money in its own content this year than last year. The company will spend around $ 17 billion (about € 15.7 billion) on its own productions in 2020, $2 billion more than in 2019.
This was reavealed in an analysis by the Canadian investment bank BMO Capital Markets. The extra investments in own series and films do not come as a surprise. Last year the streaming service achieved great success with a large number of own productions.

The Netflix subscription is becoming more expensive for Belgian Netflix subscribers. Only the cheapest basic plan of €7.99 per month will cost the same. The other subscriptions - standard and premium - are respectively €1 and €2 more expensive per month. The standard subscription will now cost €11.99 instead of €10.99 per month. For that price, you can watch in high definition (HD) on two screens at the same time.

The price for premium goes from €13.99 to €15.99 per month. This allows you to view four screens simultaneously with the same account. Some programs will also become available in Ultra HD if you have the premium subscription. Netflix has not yet announced any other price changes. Netflix now has 158 million paying customers worldwide. The precise number of Belgian subscribers isn't known.
