A series that is based on the Tom Swift books has entered production at The CW. It will be connected to Nancy Drew (2019).
The CW is working on a spin-off to Nancy Drew. The new series is based on the book series Tom Swift. The character of Tom Swift is set to appear in the second season of Nancy Drew (2019), in order to create a connection to the upcoming series. Supposedly, a pilot script is in the works.
The series has been co-created by Melinda Hsu Taylor (Nancy Drew (2019)), Noga Landau (Nancy Drew (2019)), and Cameron Johnson (Empire). CBS Studios will be producing the series. Josh Schwartz (Nancy Drew (2019)) and Stephanie Savage (Nancy Drew (2019)) will be serving as executive producer, alongside Lis Rowinski (Nancy Drew (2019)), Johnson, Landau and Hsu Taylor.
The series will follow the adventures of a black, homosexual billionaire inventor who is pushed into a world of science fiction and conspiracy theories after his father suddenly disappears. Tom tries to figure out the truth, and he is forced to leave the comfort of his lifestyle behind. Toms missies require brilliance, talent for innovation, love, romance, friendship and the unsolved mysteries of the universe.
