Prime Video orders series Motorheads with Ryan Phillippe (Shooter)

Prime Video has ordered the coming-of-age drama Motorheads, from writer/showrunner John A. Norris (All American (2018)) and executive producer Jason Seagraves, to series.
Motorheads is about first love, first heartbreak and turning the key to your very first car. The series is set in a once thriving rust belt town that is now searching for a glimmer of hope. It's the adrenaline-filled story of a group of outsiders who form an unlikely friendship through their shared love of cars. And while some characters struggle through the hierarchy and rules of high school, others race through a dark past.

14376 Motorheads cast

Ryan Phillippe (Shooter (2016)), Nathalie Kelley (Dynasty (2017)), Michael Cimino (Love, Victor) and Melissa Collazo (One of Us Is Lying) - from left to right in the photo - are the regular protagonists of the series.

Phillippe will play Logan, a former NASCAR mechanic who now owns an auto body shop in his hometown of Ironwood, Pennsylvania. Logan struggles to keep his business afloat and lives in the shadow of his infamous brother, Christian Maddox. The actor played roles in USA Network's Shooter (2016), FX series Damages, ABC series Secrets & Lies (US) and Big Sky, among others.

Kelley has been cast as Samantha, an ER nurse who has just quit her job in New York City to return to her hometown with her children. She previously appeared on ABC's Body of Proof, the first season of Lifetime's UnREAL, The CW's Dynasty (2017) and played the lead role in ABC's The Baker and the Beauty.

Cimino stars as Zac, who knows his father was a street racing legend in Ironwood and desperately tries to live up to his father's reputation as the best ever. He starred in the Hulu YA series Love, Victor and had recurring roles in Hulu's comedy series How I Met Your Father and Netflix's Never Have I Ever.

Collazo brings Caitlyn to life. She is Zac's sister and a mechanical super talent who is passionate about cars and knows how to fix them. Caitlyn hopes that moving to her parents' hometown will help her get a lead on their father's disappearance. The actress previously starred in Peacock's One of Us Is Lying and the slasher comedy film Freaky with Vince Vaugn.

“Motorheads is a gripping story, anchored around the series of ‘firsts’ that accompany young adulthood. We have an incredible group of actors bringing John’s (out)cast of characters to life and we are excited to share this wistful, nostalgic journey with our global, Prime Video customers,” Lauren Anderson, head of AVOD originals, unscripted and targeted programming at Amazon MGM Studios, tells Deadline in an exclusive statement.

“From the very beginning, Amazon has been so supportive of the vision of the series. And the cast and crew we’ve assembled is beyond my wildest dreams,” shared executive producer Norris.

Motorheads is written and produced by John A. Norris, who will serve as showrunner. The series is also produced by Jason Seagraves, Jake Fuller for Jax Media, Dana Brunetti and Keegan Rosenberger. Ruben Fleischer (Superstore) directs the pilot and Ryan Zaragoza serves as co-executive producer. The series is produced by Jax Media and Amazon MGM Studios.
