Disney+ launches new British comedy series Alice and Steve

Alice and Steve (working title) is coming to Disney+. The comedy series stars Nicola Walker and Jemaine Clement.
Disney+ has greenlit a new original British comedy series, provisionally titled Alice and Steve, starring Nicola Walker (The Split, Unforgotten) and Jemaine Clement (What We Do in the Shadows). The six-part series, produced by award-winning Clerkenwell Films (Baby Reindeer), is currently in production in London.

Alice (Walker) and Steve (Clement, pictured) have been best friends their whole lives – until their friendship suddenly comes to naught. The reason? Steve, now middle-aged, starts a relationship with Alice’s 26-year-old daughter Izzy, played by Yali Topol Margalith.

What follows is an emotional, chaotic and absurdly funny series that tests the boundaries of friendship, loyalty and parental tolerance to the limit. As Alice tries to understand how her best friend is suddenly her son-in-law-to-be, their lives derail – with families, relationships and friendships as collateral damage.

In addition to Walker, Clement and Margalith, the cast includes Joel Fry as Alice’s husband Daniel, Tyrese Eaton-Dyce as son Dom and Marcia Warren (known from The Crown) as Alice’s mother Val. Eilidh Fisher and Ebony Aboagye can be seen in supporting roles.

The series is written and produced by Sophie Goodhart (Sex Education), and directed by BAFTA-winning Tom Kingsley (This Is Going to Hurt).

A premiere date has not yet been announced, but filming has already begun in London.

This one sounds interesting. I know Nicola Walker mostly from very serious roles, so I'm curious to see how she'll do here
