Hulu has acquired the rights to develop Best Offer Wins, Marisa Kashino's debut novel, into a series in a fiercely competitive bidding process. The story follows Margo, a 37-year-old publicist who, after countless failed bids on houses, falls into a deep frustration and obsession. When she discovers a perfect off-market house, she sees it as the solution to her personal problems and, above all, as a last chance to save her marriage. This obsession drives her to cross boundaries: she starts stalking, manipulating and scheming to get the house at all costs.
Greta Lee
The novel, which will be published on November 25, 2025, is described as a sharp, satirical and suspenseful look at class divides, personal ambition and the current housing crisis.
Greta Lee, who received critical acclaim for her role in Past Lives (for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe and Independent Spirit Award), is expected to play Margo. Lee has also attached to the project as an executive producer. The American actress has had supporting roles in the Netflix comedy-drama series Russian Doll and in the Apple TV+ drama series The Morning Show. For the latter role, she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
The adaptation will be written by Suzanne Heathcote, known for her work as showrunner and executive producer on season three of Killing Eve, as well as projects such as The Crowded Room (Apple TV+) and The Miniature Wife (Peacock). She is also working on the Netflix film The Thursday Murder Club. Heathcote is considered a screenwriter with a strong background in psychological drama and suspenseful storylines.
Marisa Kashino, the author of the book, worked as a journalist for 17 years, including at The Washington Post and Washingtonian, where she specialized in long-form backstories and reporting on the real estate market and interior design.
