ABC has put the premiere of ‘Astronaut Wives Club’ on hold. They will set the premiere date somewhere midway the 2014-2015 season. The series has been paused because the show’s storyline will be expanded.
‘Astronaut Wives Club’ is written by Stephanie Savage (‘Gossip Girl’) and tells the story of a group of women support their star-bound husbands during the 1960s space race. The show originally centered on the wives of the Mercury astronauts; it will now more closely follow Lily Koppel’s 2013 bestseller ‘The Astronaut Wives Club: A True Story’ and chronicle the lives of the Gemini and Apollo mission crews’ spouses, as well.
‘Astronaut Wives Club’ had received a direct-to-series order of ABC in February. Its cast includes JoAnna Garcia Swisher (‘Once Upon a Time’), Odette Annable (‘House’) and Desmond Harrington (‘Dexter’). Savage and Josh Schwartz (‘Gossip Girl’) will executive-produce the drama with Len Goldstein (‘Hart of Dixie’) and Michael London (‘Milk’).
