The series Tinseltown from William J Mann and Kevin Murphy will enter production at Spectrum originals. The series is based on the bestseller of Mann.
Tinseltown is based on the bestseller Tinseltown: Murder, Morphine, and Madness at the Dawn of Hollywood by William J Mann, which was published in 2014. Spectrum Originals is now creating a series adaptation of the book. The series is co-written by Kevin Murphy (The Son) and Mann. The project was created by Mann, Murphy, Aaron Kaplan's Kapital Entertainment, Tracy Katsky's KatCo and Paramount Television studios.
Tinseltown takes place in the era of the silent movie. The series revolves around the lives of four female movie creators. Their life is threatened by an infamous murder and the ruthless patriarchy of Hollywood's upcoming studio system. The description of the story references the famous unsolved murder of William Desmond Taylor, The founder of the Motion Picture Directors Association.
