The Series of the Year Awards 2019

Just a few more weeks before The Series of the Year Awards 2019 begin! MySeries has been organising the awards since 2012 and it's the perfect opportunity to look back at the past year. What a year it was for series in 2019. Great series ended (like Game of Thrones and The Big Bang Theory), but we were also introduced to some fantastic new ones (like Chernobyl and When They See Us). With Netflix and Amazon growing every day and the new streaming services Disney+ and Apple TV+ it looks like the whole world is captivated by series. In a few weeks it's our job to pick our most favourite tv series.

A difficult task, that's for sure. But a fun one! And this year, we've made it even more difficult and more fun for you. We've added two new categories to the list; best actor and best actress. We thought it would be nice to pay some extra attention to those amazing acting performances in our favourite series.

Starting Monday the 6th of January 2019 until Monday the 3rd of February 2019 you can cast your vote in fifteen different categories, namely:

Best comedy series
Best superheroes series
Best non-English/Dutch series
Best Dutch language series
Best animation series
Best bingewatch series
Best sciencefiction series
Best crime series
Best ended series
Best actress
Best actor
Best mini- or anthology series
Most disappointing series
Best new series
Best series of 2019

We've decided to remove the category 'Best guilty pleasure' from the list because each year a discussion arose about the meaning of a "guilty pleasure". It's hard to define it, so we thought it would be wiser just to remove it.

To make voting a little bit easier for you, the writers team of MySeries nominated the ten best series for each category. Starting tomorrow, a daily column will be published about one of the above categories until the start of the awards (January 6th). The columns will be about the ten nominations and why they, according to us, deserve to win in this particular category.

From Monday January 7th until Monday February 3rd, you can cast your vote using the MySeries app and the website MySeries.tv. You can change your vote anytime you want within the election dates. You can vote for one of the ten nominees but you can also choose not to vote for one of the nominees, by using a ‘wildcard’ to vote for your favourite series (only if at least one of the episodes aired in 2018 and fits the category). This way, every tv series has a chance to win. Note: You can't use a wildcard in the categories 'Best actor' and 'Best actress'.

If you are voting using the MySeries app, it's important to install the latest version of the app on your phone. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to vote for the two newest categories.

When you voted, you have a chance to win awesome prizes. Amongst the voters we hand out the following prizes:
3x DVD box (with a value of €100,-)
10x MySeries Premium account for one whole year (with a value of €24,95).

Monday the 3th of February is the last day of the awards. On Monday the 11th of February the results will be announced and we will finally know which series you think are the best series of 2019!
