B Positive and United States of Al receive pilot orders at CBS

CBS has ordered two comedy pilots from executive producer Chuck Lorre. B Positive is a multiple camera comedy created and written by co-executive producer Marco Pennette (Desperate Housewives). Lorre (The Big Bang Theory, photo) and Pennette are already working together on the comedy series Mom. B Positive tells the story of the recently divorced father Drew who is looking for a kidney donor. He is nearing the end when he meets Gina - a tough nut to crack - whom he knows from the past and decides to donate her kidney. Together they form an unlikely couple who are at the start of a journey that will change both their lives.




United States of Al already has a protagonist. Dean Norris (Breaking Bad, photo) will act alongside Adhir Kalyan (Rules of Engagement) and Parker Young (Imposters) in the comedy written by David Goetsch and Maria Ferrari. Both will also produce together with Lorre. Norris - who also plays in Claws - will play Art, a veteran who still lives with his son Riley (Young) and daughter Lizzie (not yet known). Riley is a former Marine who has a warm relationship with Al (Kalyan), his Afghan interpreter. Art understands the close bond between the two men and therefore welcomes Al into his house.
