This is quite different from The Rookie (grin). I would almost call it a separate genre, it is so different. Experienced police officer Tracy (Troian Bellisario, Pretty Little Liars) and her "rookie" Diaz do interventions in Longbeach LA and that is accompanied by extreme stress and danger to their own lives. The series is much more about police work than about the private lives of the characters, although there is a common thread through the storylines, namely the reason - which I will not spoil - why Tracy Harmon has such a shaky reputation within the Longbeach division. Also funny to suddenly see Eric La Salle again (Dr Benton in ER), fantastic actor, that man. That scene with Tracy in his office in the last episode of season 1... haunting!
My sweetheart thought it was a bit much (violence, tension, rawness), but I watched the series on my own. And I don't regret it at all.
