Starz releases new teaser trailer for final season of Outlander

During the Christmas holidays, Starz released a new trailer for the eighth and final season of their hit series Outlander. The new teaser trailer for Outlander opens with a distraught Jamie hinting at the fate of the Frasers and warning fans that "nothing can prepare you for how it ends." Outlander is known for effectively sowing doom and gloom, so it’s wise to remain cautiously optimistic that love will ultimately conquer all. But it is the final season — so anything is possible.

When season eight begins, Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) quickly discover that the war has followed them home to Fraser’s Ridge, now a thriving settlement that has grown and flourished during their absence.

With new residents and changes made during the years they were away, the Frasers face the question of what they are willing to sacrifice for the place they call home — and, more importantly, what they would give up to stay together.

As the Frasers collectively resist outside intruders, family secrets finally coming to light threaten to tear them apart from within. Although they have left the fight for America’s freedom behind, their battle for Fraser’s Ridge has only just begun.

To refresh: in season seven, the Frasers became embroiled in the turmoil of the American Revolution. The season ended with Jamie's fateful decision to resign from his position in the Continental Army and return to Fraser’s Ridge with Claire.

Meanwhile, the MacKenzies, after an emotional family reunion, had to decide where and when to resettle, with a cliffhanger that left fans questioning the true fate of Claire and Jamie’s first daughter, Faith.

The final season of Outlander will be available on Starz starting Friday, March 6.
