I watched the first episode of the second season yesterday and was completely surprised by the direction the series is taking. I really enjoyed it and was bummed I didn't have time to watch the other two at the same time. I'll do it tonight. Very curious to see how this storyline will intersect with the one from season 1.
The second season was totally different from the first, but more than worth watching again. With another major twist at the end. What does that mean for the third season? It looks like it will be even more Sci-Fi. I am very curious to see where this leads.
The only downside to the series is the rather prominent and at times very irritating background "music" or soundscape. I found that quite distracting from the story occasionally.
Yes, I really enjoyed it, a great series and the sound in the background makes it even more exciting. Besides, it could be true? There will be a season 2 so that's a bonus
Been a long while since I say something of this quality. Fantastic acting, perfect story and storytelling, and a few narly twists that keep you at the edge of your seat. A real "page" turner till the last episode 👌🏼
This series is, to quote Jack Nicholson, fan-fucking-tastic! As far as I'm concerned, the best I've seen this year so far.
You really have to go into it with a blank slate. Then the first surprise, at the end of the first episode, is really mind blowing. And there is at least one more surprise of that caliber in this series. The story unfolds somewhat slowly but carefully and is built up very well. I am often not a fan of flashbacks, but in this series it works very well. Once you know what kind of town it is, you naturally want to know how it came to be and what happened. This is told in a wonderful way.
The acting is good. I was particularly impressed by Julianne Nicholson (no relation to the Jack I quoted earlier). Her Sinatra starts out as a woman in mourning who you sympathize with, but slowly develops into a completely different person. That said, the entire cast is just good. Even the children/teens.
The first season is a completed story and in the last episode it prepares for a second season, which fortunately has already been announced and will probably take a very different turn. Highly recommended as far as I'm concerned.
PS: Almost forgot. The music in this series also deserves a mention. Besides the fact that there is always something to hear in the background that increases the tension, many classic 80s/90s rock songs are also played. The president (Cal) is a big fan of this music and shows it at every opportunity :-) The songs also always have a hook with what's going on at that moment. For example, pay attention to "We Build this City" by Starship in the first episode...
Very curious to see how this storyline will intersect with the one from season 1.
