Thank you, Amazon Prime, for giving us in Flanders (and the Netherlands) the opportunity to watch this old series with subtitles. I missed it when it was broadcast and am now quickly catching up. I find most episodes quite enjoyable to watch. And from season two, Jennifer Love Hewitt will join the cast, which is a bonus. My heart always beats a little faster when Jennifer appears on screen or puts a big smile on her face. But let's be honest, the level of acting in this series is actually deplorable, really appalling even with its moments. Maybe that is also partly due to the cliché scripts. Oh well, just do it, write so many episodes (more than 20/season) and still come up with something original? Not easy. Still, I kept watching and gave it a score of 8 because, despite yourself, you start to sympathize with the Salinger brothers and sisters. Which is strange, because all of them (except maybe Owen) are erratic people and often completely unreliable. Everything the Salingers touch turns to shit. The people who come into contact with them are hurt, deceived, fooled and often even spit out. How often does it happen that I spontaneously curse at one of them, from the couch, and shout out loud: 'Bailey, you goddamn son of a bitch!' (feel free to replace Bailey with Charlie, Claudia or Julia) Nevertheless, despite all those 'negative' comments, I keep watching. Maybe out of pity for poor, poor Sarah Reeves. Or to swoon, every now and then, if I feel like it.
