ICF renews Portlandia for 2 seasons

‘Portlandia’ will get two more seasons from ICF. Season five of ‘Portlandia’ is now airing. The sixth and seventh season will get ten episodes of a half hour each.

“We are so excited to get to do more ‘Portlandia’ with IFC,” said Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein in a joint statement. “Getting to work with Jon and our talented writers and crew, it really is our favourite thing in the world. Also, we get to spend more time in Portland!”

“Portland may be a place where young people go to retire, but IFC is not retiring ‘Portlandia’,” said Jennifer Caserta, IFC’s president. “And if you order a book from Toni and Candace at the Feminist Bookstore right now, it might even arrive by the time season seven rolls around.”

In the past five seasons, ‘Portlandia’ has expanded our knowledge of the strange characters of America's damp Northwest. We found out more about Malcolm and Kris with their helicopter parenting, Toni and Candace with their overzealous dedication to a cause, Bryce and Lisa with their taxidermy and pickling or Doug and Claire’s binge-watching, and their peculiarities have evolved from niche to normal.

Portlandia has seen some of the biggest names in movies, music and television pass through its city. In addition to recurring appearances by Vanessa Bayer, Ed Begley Jr., Steve Buscemi, Jeff Goldblum, Kyle MacLachlan, Kumail Nanjiani, Jason Sudeikis, Gus Van Sant and Olivia Wilde, guest stars over the past five seasons have included Roseanne Barr, Vanessa Bayer, Selma Blair, Rose Byrne, Kirsten Dunst, Shepard Fairey, Greta Gerwig, Heather Graham, Matt Groening, Oscar the Grouch, Anna Gunn, Bill Hader, k.d. lang, Juliette Lewis, Justin Long, Jane Lynch, Natasha Lyonne, Aimee Mann, Penny Marshall, Sarah McLachlan, Seth Meyers, Bobby Moynihan, Martina Navratilova, Patton Oswalt, Aubrey Plaza, Parker Posey, Paul Reubens, Tim Robbins, Maya Rudolph, Andy Samberg, Paul Simon, Amber Tamblyn, Eddie Vedder, Kristen Wiig and many more.

‘Portlandia’ is shot in Portland and was created by Fred Armisen, Carrie Brownstein and Jonathan Akhter. They are also the writers together with Karey Dornetto and Graham Wagner. The fifth season of ‘Portlandia’ is aired every Thursday at ICF and season one to four is aired by Netflix America.
