Power: Origins delves into the early years of iconic characters James "Ghost" St. Patrick and Tommy Egan, showcasing them as ambitious young entrepreneurs determined to make their mark in New York City's underworld. According to Starz, it will be "a bold, energetic, and captivating exploration of how these young men rose to become legends."
While the roles of young Ghost and Tommy have not yet been cast, Mekai Curtis has been confirmed. He will reprise his role as Kanan Stark, the role he played for four seasons in Power Book III: Raising Kanan. In the original Power series, Kanan was played by Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, who will remain on the franchise as an executive producer.
The season finale of Power Book III: Raising Kanan season four also introduced the character of Branford "Breeze" Frady (played by Shameik Moore), a key figure from Ghost's criminal early days. Moore's character could return in Origins, depending on the outcome of Raising Kanan season five, which is expected in 2026 and will conclude the series.
With Power: Origins, Starz is further expanding the world of Power. The franchise currently encompasses Power (2014–2020), Power Book II: Ghost (2020–2024), Power Book III: Raising Kanan (2021–2026), Power Book IV: Force (2022–2025, ending after season three), and the upcoming Power: Legacy, which will take place in the present timeline after Force.
