Preacher is een Amerikaanse fantasieserie van de zender AMC. De serie ging in première op 22 mei 2016.
Gebaseerd op de comic book serie uit de jaren '90 van Garth Ennis en Steve Dillon's en van DC Comics imprint Vertigo, draait Preacher om Rev. Jesse Custer (Agent Carter's Dominic Cooper), als een gehaaide Texaanse priester die, na van zijn geloof te zijn gevallen, er achter komt dat God de Hemel heeft verlaten en zijn taken niet langer uitvoert. Jesse is de enige die in staat is om God op te sporen en hem verantwoordelijk te houden voor zijn troonsafstand. Tulip O'Hare (Ruth Negga), Jesse's ex en bier zuipende vampier, vergezeld hem op zijn zoektocht naar antwoorden. Maar het verhaal eindigt daar niet: The Saint of Killers, een onsterfelijke moordmachine en Western lone gunman types, zetten de achtervolging in en hebben hun zinnen gezet op Jesse. De rest van de castleden zijn onder andere; True Blood's Lucy Griffiths als Emily Woodrow, een kerkorganist en de loyale rechterhand van Jesse, This Is England's Joseph Gilgun als de Ierse vampier Cassidy en Ian Colletti als Eugene Root (aka Arseface).

I found this a relief, Many storylines that boost the tension and the first episode was unfortunately over before I realized it. I think if this series continues this road and keeps the height, it will make it! And to stay in the language of 'Gumstarr'; I also have another favorite series!

Where the pilot, despite the fact that it was completely incoherent, still had some "highlights" with church / plane / cow / bazooka, in the second episode, on a trick with a chainsaw, only loose sand remains. I will give this one more week hoping to see improvement, but I fear it already.

I had a great time again. Preacher is a series with very dark humor. I laughed at times. The scene in the church with the chainsaw was very good, and fun. I am a fan of vampire Cassidy. What a great character! From me this episode also gets a big fat enough. Tulip's comments to Jesse are very good. The look he gives in response, priceless !!

I love it when other people think this is great, but I am a little less lyrical about this series myself. I have never read the comics so I cannot compare the series with them, but for me it is more a sequence of separate scenes than a story being told. And as said, I found in the second episode outside that nothing worth mentioning happened with that chainsaw. One in twenty scenes of which I think "Yes, that was fun" is not enough for me to convince me that I am watching something great.
