The second season of the legal thriller Presumed Innocent on Apple TV+ adds a new Emmy winner to the cast: Matthew Rhys.
Matthew Rhys, the star of The Americans and Perry Mason (2020), joins Rachel Brosnahan and Jack Reynor in the second season of Presumed Innocent, which will be based on the upcoming book Dissection of a Murder by author Jo Murray.

Presumed Innocent is the second Apple project that Rhys has recently signed on for; he is also starring in Widow’s Bay, about residents of an apparently cursed coastal town in New England.

The first season of Presumed Innocent was based on the novel by Scott Turow with the same title (previously adapted into a film with Harrison Ford) and starred Jake Gyllenhaal, Ruth Negga, and Peter Sarsgaard in the lead roles.

When renewing the series, Apple TV+ and the creative team, including executive producers David E. Kelley and J.J. Abrams, decided to make the series an anthology, with each season telling a standalone story.

Nothing has been revealed about the plot of the second season, but according to publisher Pan Macmillan, the story follows a lawyer (Brosnahan) defending a man suspected of murdering a judge.

Rhys will also soon be seen in The Beast in Me with Claire Danes for Netflix, which premieres in November. Additionally, he is set to star in a Prime Video series about a serial killer, Silent River, alongside John Krasinski.
