To make a series like this believable, you need a good script, good actors, and a setting that makes the mayonnaise stick (Flemish for everything blending together beautifully into a delicious-tasting whole). Here, that setting is fourfold: a hip wine bar in New York City, the home of a newly widowed man, the apartment of a wannabe singer with mental health issues, and a chemotherapy ward in a hospital. Everything flows into one another so perfectly and is so beautifully interwoven that the series forms a beautiful mosaic.
The actor who portrays the bar owner Nate so brilliantly looked incredibly familiar to me, and that was because he was in 157 episodes of Pretty Little Liars—yes, that’s where I knew him from. But really, everyone is good, even the extras in the bar or in the hospital. This one is truly great!
